U.S. Senators reintroduce bill to end renting of recalled cars

Washington -- A group of senators has reintroduced a bill that would bar rental car companies from allowing customers to rent unrepaired recalled vehicles.

The Senate bill would require vehicles under a safety recall to be grounded as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours after the rental company gets a safety recall notice. Rental companies will have up to 48 hours for recalls that include more than 5,000 vehicles in their fleet.

Erie students recognized in "Change the World" challenge

In an attempt to help change the world, a group of Erie High School students earlier this year tested their peers in a subliminal social experiment — it turns out they were onto something. EHS junior Emily Villasenor, and seniors Piper Zeier, Luisa Barlow and Ryne Atking began working on a project last fall to reduce methane gas from landfills by encouraging composting for "Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge."
